Who is the course for?

Anyone who wants to train new paragliding pilots.

The course is intended to train and prepare the candidate for the prescribed procedure for obtaining the U/JP rating. Completing the course does not in itself mean that the rating has been obtained. An instructor rating also does not in itself constitute authorisation to conduct official examinations; for examiner duties all additional prescribed requirements must be met and the appropriate approval obtained.

What do I need?

iFly entry requirement: at least 100 hours of paragliding flight time and your own equipment. The candidate must separately meet all applicable CAA requirements for obtaining the U/JP rating (the official training programme is set by the competent authority).

Course provider

The participant is informed of the specific provider or instructor before the training starts. Where the regulations require a specific rating for the training, it is conducted only by a person holding a valid appropriate rating.

How long does the course take?

The course lasts about 1 year.

When are courses held?

Courses are held on Saturdays, in the morning at 9:00 and in the afternoon after 14:00, and on weekdays after 17:00.

In winter, because of the shorter days, courses are held only at weekends.

You will be informed of the course dates at least one day before the planned session, by SMS.

Provider and authorisations

Participants are informed of the specific provider or instructor before training begins. Where regulations require a specific authorisation, training is delivered only by a person holding a valid one.

The course is intended to train and prepare the candidate for the prescribed procedure for obtaining the U/JP authorisation. Completion of the course does not in itself mean the authorisation has been obtained. An instructor authorisation also does not in itself constitute authorisation to conduct official examinations; to act as an examiner, all additional prescribed conditions must be met and the appropriate approval obtained.
